About the Role:
The Certified Surgical Technician First Assistant plays a critical role in supporting surgical teams by providing expert assistance during operative procedures. Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Assisting Program
- Certification as a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) through the NBSTSA
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, and sterile techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with advanced surgical technologies and minimally invasive procedures.
- Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Strong background in multiple surgical specialties.
- Experience working in a hospital setting with a multidisciplinary surgical team.
Responsibilities:
- Assists the surgeon by providing exposure, controlling bleeding, handling tissues and suturing incisions.
- Anticipates the surgeon's needs based on procedural knowledge and patient factors
- Ensure all surgical equipment is functioning properly and troubleshoot any issues that arise during procedures.
- Collaborate closely with the surgical team, including nurses and anesthesiologists, to coordinate patient care.
- Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and hospital policies to ensure patient and staff safety.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with surgical techniques and technologies.
