POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Group Exercise Lead, under the direction of the Health and Wellness Director, will be responsible for the supervision and implementation of on-site duties for Group Exercise staff. The Group Exercise Lead will collaborate with the Health and Wellness Director in developing and scheduling program offerings that serve members and enhance community health and spirit.
We are eager to fill this position and welcome dedicated individuals who are ready to make a difference. Work up to 19 hours per week in a dynamic environment. This is a part time on going position.
Work schedule: This position offers flexibility in scheduling, subject to operational needs and supervisor approval. Specific hours will be discussed and agreed upon during the hiring process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Leads and encourages communication, collaboration, substituting, and teamwork among Group Exercise Instructors.
- Assists the Health and Wellness Director with providing on-site support and substitution to instructors, observing classes, and delivering feedback to instructors for support and growth.
- Maintains a visible presence within the facilities, especially at peak times of Group Exercise offerings, building interpersonal relationships with members and staff in all departments.
- Monitors class counts and capacities, decibel readings, equipment inventory, compliance binders, and equipment care and repair.
- Assist with planning and leading of special events, staff recognition, coaching, and quarterly staff meetings for Group Exercise Staff.
- Helps to assimilate new Group Exercise hires and facilitates communication and cohesiveness in the Group Exercise department.
- Interprets and communicates the Y Mission, objectives, and programs to members, program participants, and community members through purposeful programming and fundraising efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Group Exercise Certification required
- In addition, Personal trainer certification preferred
- Completion of YMCA program-specific training upon hire
- Utilities above average program implementation skills, outstanding communication skills, and exceptional organizational skills
- Able to respond professionally and swiftly in cases of injuries and emergencies
- Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds

STARTING PAY: $19.10/hr
