- Inspects all District buildings and facilities to conduct audits of custodial report cards.
- Provides training and orientation to all custodians related to cleaning procedures and the safe and proper use of chemicals and equipment.
- Coordinates the moving and delivery of District furniture, equipment, and other heavy or bulky materials for assigned special projects.
- Directs the set-up of facilities for special events.
- Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other documents as required including maintaining accurate information for payroll reporting (time cards, tardiness, and absenteeism).
- Serves as the hiring manager for custodial positions at recruitment events.
- Serves on the hiring committee for the selection of Head Custodians.
- Evaluates and recommends custodial supplies and equipment to be provided to staff.
- Prepares, implements, and maintains preventive maintenance schedules for custodial equipment.
- Evaluates inventory of physical equipment and supplies; maintains accurate records; orders tools, equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Assists in the preparation of department budget.
- Maintains safety standards in accordance with federal, state, District, and insurance regulations and trains custodians on proper and safe use of equipment and chemicals.
- Ensures that staff adhere to established safety procedures, including lifting and climbing; makes sure that tools and equipment are operated safely, and that chemicals are handled according to established safety procedures.
- Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
- Follows established procedures for locking, checking, and safeguarding facilities.
Selects, trains, supervises, and evaluates staff, and makes recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal.

- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard cleaning tools and equipment; may use standard yard maintenance equipment including lawn mower, edger, and weed eater; may use standard custodial/maintenance equipment/tools, including buffer, stripper, wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, shampooer, hand trucks, dollies; light truck or van.

- Experience:
- 5 years’ experience in custodial services required;
- Experience in supervisory custodial positions required.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- NO positive drug or alcohol tests including pre-employment, random, post-accident or reasonable suspicion.
- Driving and accident record:
- Valid Texas Department of Public Safety Driver Record Check Type 3A-Certified list of all crashes and violations http://dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/driverrecords.htm
- NO more than 2 violations during previous 36 months including:
- moving traffic violations (including no more than 1 preventable accident);
- failure to provide proof of valid driver’s license or proof of insurance;
- equipment violations.
- NO Driving Under the Influence (DUI) for drug or alcohol.
- NO leaving scene of an accident (bodily injury or physical damage).
- NO vehicular assault, manslaughter, or homicide.
- NO operating a vehicle with suspended or revoked driver’s license.
- NO reckless driving, speed contests, drag racing, or highway racing.
- NO use of a vehicle in commission of a felony.
- NO operating a vehicle without owner’s permission (unauthorized use or grand theft).
- NO permitting an unlicensed person to drive.
- NO speeding more than 20 mph over the posted speed limit.
- NO history of a conviction in a commercial or personal motor vehicle.

Position Purpose
Directs and manages custodial services for assigned departmental projects; establishes cleaning procedures and trains personnel to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds; evaluates and makes recommendations for product selection.
