JOB TITLE: Transportation Supervisor
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) Months (Classified – Exempt)

POSITION DESCRIPTION
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Plans, schedules, and administer staffing and day-to-day operations
Continually reviews procedures/protocols/processes to achieve improvements in student safety
Communicates with parents, school administrators and other school personnel as needed to address all transportation-related topics
Develops and monitors budget allocations, expenditures and related financial activities
Recruits and recommends new employee hires, promotions, termination and transfers for operational staffing needs
Inspects all aspects of District transportation services for the purposes of ensuring all student transportation activities are efficient and compliant with state and federal regulations
Assesses incidents, complaints and safety concerns for the purpose of immediate resolution
Oversees vehicle preventative and corrective maintenance programs
Responds to emergency situations during and after-hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns
Plans and participates in staff development activities, in-service training and state school bus inspections
Coaches and counsels employees on job performance and expectations
Schedules and assigns field trips
Compiles data and information for annual state report
Maintains TN Department of Safety database for bus inspections and bus drivers certifications
Develops and oversees after-hour transportation for special programs
Develops and oversees summer school transportation
Manages school bus video surveillance
Operates a school bus when needed
Performs minor school bus repairs
Participates as a member of the District’s Leadership Team
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Schools or the Associate Director of Schools
QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree or higher preferred
Five (5) years of managerial administrative experience
Two (2) years of supervisory experience
Knowledgeable in all aspects of school bus transportation. Preference will be given to candidates with direct student transportation or school/district administrative experience
Demonstrated proficiency with modern transportation technology, including bus app platforms (e.g., BusRight), GPS routing systems, and routing/scheduling software.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills suitable for addressing all levels of the general public.
Valid Commercial Driver’s License with “P” and “S”endorsements; or the ability to obtain the endorsements within 90 days of hire.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Prolonged sitting, occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and twisting
Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse, occasional reaching
Frequent light lifting (less than 15 pounds); occasional moderate lifting (less than 50 pounds)
May work with frequent interruptions to meet established deadlines
May work prolonged or irregular hours
