Job Title: Building Maintenance Coordinator – Yard Crew

Position Summary:
The Building Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and improving the Yard/Shop facility and surrounding areas, which are part of the company’s main office campus. This role ensures the safety, cleanliness, and functionality of the buildings, grounds, and infrastructure to support both yard operations and the broader office environment. The Coordinator leads facility upkeep efforts, manages repairs, and coordinates with vendors while fostering collaboration with office personnel to maintain a professional and safe campus atmosphere. Yard Crew members provide assistance with maintenance and related tasks as needed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Facility & Campus Maintenance:
Perform and oversee routine maintenance, repairs, and improvements for Yard/Shop buildings and the surrounding main office campus grounds, including landscaping, parking areas, walkways, and outdoor amenities. - Safety & Compliance:
Maintain compliance with all safety codes, regulations, and company policies. Conduct regular inspections of buildings and campus grounds to identify and address hazards or maintenance needs. - Vendor & Contractor Management:
Coordinate and supervise external contractors and vendors providing specialized services such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, and cleaning. - Inventory & Equipment Oversight:
Manage maintenance-related supplies and tools, ensuring availability and proper condition. Maintain records of service schedules, repairs, and purchases. - Collaboration with Office Teams:
Work closely with office management and staff to schedule maintenance activities minimizing disruption, support office needs, and contribute to a professional campus environment. - Support Yard Operations:
Assist the Yard Crew with maintenance-related tasks such as concrete form upkeep and occasional material handling to support yard efficiency. - Facility Improvement Projects:
Plan and execute facility and campus enhancement projects aimed at improving safety, functionality, and aesthetics. - Responsive Facility Support:
Serve as the first point of contact for facility-related issues on the Yard/Shop and campus, responding promptly to requests and emergencies.
Key Competencies:
- Expertise in building and grounds maintenance within a mixed-use environment (industrial yard + office campus)
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage diverse facility needs
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work with yard and office teams
- Proactive approach to safety and preventive maintenance
- Familiarity with maintenance management software or digital tools preferred
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in building maintenance or facilities management, preferably in a mixed industrial and office campus setting
- Hands-on skills in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, groundskeeping, and general repairs
- Valid driver’s license (required)
- Ability to perform physical labor including lifting, climbing, and working outdoors
- Strong knowledge of safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Experience coordinating with vendors and contractors
- Basic computer proficiency for scheduling and record keeping
Working Conditions:
- Work indoors and outdoors across the Yard/Shop and office campus
- Exposure to weather, noise, and varying temperatures
- Physically demanding tasks including climbing, lifting, and equipment use
- Occasional emergency facility response outside regular hours
