Work Location: Remote


Summary:

The Director of Compliance oversees and provides day-to-day compliance and operational support for Filo’s lending operations and maintains and executes the Compliance Management System to ensure compliance with applicable Federal and State laws.


Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise regulatory and state examinations. Gather requested material. Coordinate interviews. Coordinate response to findings.
  • Meet as needed with key stakeholders to inform them on issues that may arise, proposing effective solutions for compliance challenges.
  • Maintain all Compliance Policy and Procedures and update as necessary. Assist in evaluating the policies, procedures, products, and programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations and make recommendations for change where appropriate. 
  • Work with other departments to ensure procedures are developed to ensure compliance. Provide guidance and foster open line of communication to management and individual departments so that managers are aware of their responsibility for ensuring compliance for their areas
  • Act as lead role for Compliance Committee and hold monthly meeting to discuss compliance issues.
  • Stay abreast of state and federal law changes which consists of reviewing and interpreting rules and regulations that may have a direct impact on the policies, procedures, forms, disclosures, and systems. 
  • Lead system automation updates from a compliance perspective as needed within the mortgage LOS. 
  • Review marketing materials as needed to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Manage company quarterly compliance training. Create written materials and training programs designed to promote awareness and understanding of compliance issues, applicable laws and regulations and reporting requirements and consequences of noncompliance.
  • Track and respond to consumer complaints and data privacy requests in a timely manner
  • Oversee general risk assessments and audit plans. Lead and/or support specific audits to investigate adherence with policies, procedures, and legal/regulatory requirements to identify and evaluate exposures in addition to correct defective processes and non-compliance. Report findings to management and obtain Corrective Action Plan when necessary.
  • Active oversight and maintenance of the Quality Control Plan
  • Work with the business to effectuate Compliance Quality Control action plans and offer guidance to business owners on action plan progress to closure.
  • Respond to compliance questions from employees and customers.
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Strong knowledge of consumer protection laws and mortgage regulations such as TILA/Reg Z, ECOA/Regulation B, FCRA, FACTA, FDCPA, SCRA, BSA/AML, EFTA, UDAAP and GLBA – HMDA.
  • 5+ years of mortgage industry experience is required
  • A hands-on operational compliance leader
  • Experience drafting and managing mortgage policies and procedures 
  • Experience with state regulatory examinations
  • Smart, creative problem solver
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
