The Lethbridge Police Service is currently accepting applications for a 18-month Term Relief position as a Uniform Crime Reporting. The UCR will be responsible for carrying out support services that enhance the Uniform Crime Reporting functions of LPS by undertaking tasks such as classifying reports in accordance with Statistics Canada standards, review investigative information on case files and correspondence for completeness and accuracy.
Hours: 37.5hrs weekly, Monday to Friday
Wage: $43.27 hour
As UCR you will:
· Score and review all files according to Uniform Crime Reporting and Statistics Canada guidelines
· Play a vital role in data quality management through identifying data deficiencies and make appropriate changes
· Read and review investigative information on case files and correspondence for completeness, accuracy, quality, and policy compliance
· Identify information for data input
· Extract investigative information, and prepare reports accordingly
· Monitors and reviews data entered by the Records Management Unit for accuracy and completeness.
· Periodically notifies supervisors of the New process deficiencies
· Organize and facilitate training sessions for new/current RMS employees and can include officer training
· Complete file reviews
· Facilitating training sessions for sworn and non-sworn members
As the successful candidate you will have:
• Preference will be given to 2 to 5+ years’ experience of Uniform Crime Reporting classification of Criminal Code files within a Niche RMS Database.
• A thorough knowledge of current Police files classification systems, policies and procedures, and Records Management Section processes
• In-depth and well-established knowledge of the 2018 UCR guidelines and be able to interpret, apply, and review files to meet Canadian Centre for Justice Statistics (CCJS) submission standards
• Excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgment to effectively maintain relationships with stakeholders
• High degree of organizational skills and high attention to detail
• High level of confidentiality, tact and diplomacy
• Ability to plan and organize in a self-directed environment
• A thorough knowledge of the laws, policies and procedures is considered an asset
• Post-Secondary certificate or diploma is considered an asset
• Prior experience within the LPS Records Management Section is considered an asset including experience with CPIC, RMS NICHE and JOIN
• Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and have the demonstrated ability to present information in an appropriate manner
• Analytical and decision-making skills
• Ability to analyse problems and provide solutions
• High degree of organizational skills and high attention to detail
• High level of confidentiality, tact and diplomacy
• Interpersonal skills combined with a professional approachable manner
• Very detail oriented
Testing may be conducted to verify your advanced knowledge of Niche and UCR.

7. Reference verification of a minimum of three professional references (applicable to applicants outside LPS)
8. A successful candidate(s) will be selected and offered the position
9. All components of the selection process will be administered, scored, evaluated and interpreted in a fair and uniform manner
10. Duration of the hiring process may take approximately two months
