Duties:

 

 

 

 

Position will serve as Associate Counsel, reporting to the UCOR General Counsel.

 

  • This position will be primarily responsible for managing the company's litigation portfolio. This is largely focused on labor and employment law but may also require familiarity with contracts, workers' compensation, intellectual property and environmental law.
  • This position requires interaction with outside counsel and federal enforcement agencies, like the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the National Labor Relations Board.
  • Works with company personnel to collect discovery for litigation with the least amount of disruption to operations as possible and then works with outside counsel to ensure the discovery process is managed in a way that protects the company's sensitive and proprietary information. It may include managing discovery requests for classified information.
  • Responsible for advising management concerning legal rights, obligations, and privileges, interpreting laws, rulings, and regulations, and representing UCOR in litigation and other legal proceedings.  Function under the supervision of the UCOR General Counsel. 
  • Conducts broad legal assignments necessitating the ability to evaluate matters which may have a major bearing on the conduct of the organization's business.
  • Interprets organization policy and recommends changes in procedures when appropriate.
  • Provides legal advice to the company and participates in major legal actions. 
  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of legal research, writing, and editing. 

Job-Related Qualifications Required:

  • J.D. or LL.B. or equivalent
  • License to practice law (TN preferred by not required)
  • Extensive corporate legal experience preferred. Must be fully qualified in a particular area of law, such as contract, labor, employment, workers’ compensation (TN Preferred) et.
  • Demonstrated experience in civil litigation. First chair litigation experience in federal court preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of labor relations and collective bargaining among multiple unions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in employment law.
  • Hold a Q or Top-Secret security clearance or have the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience working in federal agency space (DOE site work experience - preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal skills to include effective oral and written communication skills.
