Description
Summary of Position:
Primary driver for box truck between CMC buildings and other local sites transporting raw materials and finished stock items to and from production and warehousing facilities.
The driver will provide receiving, material handling and inventory assistance at any facility as needed.
Essential Duties:
Driving Responsibilities:
- Properly able to obtain certifications and operate the following equipment:
- Company truck
- Stand up Powered Industrial Truck
- Powered pallet jack
- Assure all shipments are delivered timely.
- Safely operates the box truck to and from destinations, adhering to all Ohio traffic laws.
- Maintain the vehicle in operable condition, clean and fueled.
- Report any required repairs or issues with truck and equipment to supervisor.
Receiving Responsibilities:
- Unload incoming shipments and perform physical checks, verifying counts and ensuring product is in good condition.
- Maintain integrity of Receipt list files.
- Accurately perform entry of received packing slips in a timely manner.
- Notify supervisor immediately of all damaged or erroneous shipments.
- Ensure all incoming products are put away and all paperwork processed by days end.
- Assist with packaging and facility duties as requested.
- Any other task that may be assigned by management.
Inventory Movement Responsibilities:
- Maintain on-hand inventory of various products.
- Verify inventory placement accuracy by performing physical inventory and cycle counts, as required.
- Use scanners to transfer raw material and/or stock product from bulk locations to staging and/or pick locations.
- Use ERP system to view inventory and inventory history.
Miscellaneous & Back-up for other Areas:
- Assist with quarterly and year end facility inventory.
- Perform daily safety inspection of the truck, dock and receiving areas – reporting any issues to Manager.
- Monitor lifts for issues, reporting issues to Maintenance.
- Empty all trash in the truck and facility work area. Maintain a clean, uncluttered, safe work environment following GMP/SQF procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to properly operate the following equipment: box truck, powered industrial truck, forklift, powered pallet jack, stretch wrap machine, handheld scanner, data entry terminal, thermal printer, Axapta, and electronic scale.
- Good decision-making skills, ability to plan and organize time & activities.
- Ability to communicate and work with peers, customers, and management.
- Strong math skills.
- Ability to the work hours necessary to fulfill department needs, up to and including overtime.
- Attention to detail
- Self-motivated and ability to solve problems.
Training and Experience:
- 1+ years’ experience
- Valid driver’s license with ability to be added to Company’s Vehicle Insurance Plan or 3rd party Insurance Plan.
- Strong computer skills with ability to adapt to new and/or changing software systems.
- High school diploma or GED.
Physical Requirements:
- Stooping, reaching, standing, walking.
- Pushing and pulling.
- Very heavy work-exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or more than 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Ability to grasp small objects.
- Talking, hearing, and repetitive motion and/or sound.
- Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned or to make general observations of facilities or structures.
- Subject to hazards including a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, climbing.
- Subject to atmospheric conditions that may affect the respiratory system or the skin such as fumes and vapors.
