The Payroll Specialist – UKG Implementation Support will provide critical, hands-on payroll processing and data management expertise during Tatte Bakery’s migration from InfoSync to UKG. This temporary role will mirror the work currently performed by our external payroll partner (InfoSync) and will be responsible for ensuring payroll accuracy, compliance, and timeliness throughout the implementation and post-go-live period.  This position will work closely with the HR Manager and HRIS analyst, UKG implementation team, and field leaders to maintain payroll operations, troubleshoot issues, and ensure a smooth transition.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Payroll Processing & Validation

  • Prepare, review, & process weekly/biweekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness.
  • Audit time & attendance data from POS/Timekeeping systems for completeness and accuracy prior to payroll submission.
  • Review and validate earnings, deductions, taxes, paid time off, salary and job changes, and other adjustments in UKG during testing and live runs.
  • Handle retroactive pay calculations, adjustments, and special payments.
  • Generate and review payroll reports for accuracy; escalate discrepancies for resolution.

Implementation Support

  • Assist with payroll parallel runs, comparing results between InfoSync and UKG to identify discrepancies.
  • Support dual maintenance during implementation
  • Document payroll workflows, controls, and post-implementation procedures.
  • Participate in payroll data mapping, validation, and testing between InfoSync and UKG.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on payroll processes during system configuration and testing.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Serve as the first point of contact for payroll-related questions from the implementation team and field managers.
  • Ensure payroll is processed in compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and personal data.
  • Issue Resolution & Post-Go-Live Support
  • Research and resolve payroll issues, collaborating with UKG support, HR, and accounting as needed.
  • Running ad hoc reports to validate data

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience in a multi-state, multi-location environment.
  • Strong understanding of wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and payroll best practices.
  • Proficiency with payroll and timekeeping systems (UKG experience preferred; migration or implementation experience a plus).
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong data auditing capabilities.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the hospitality, retail, or restaurant industry.
  • Prior experience supporting payroll system conversions or parallel testing.
