Position Description

Position Title: Security Officer

Reports To: General Manager

Supervises: N/A

Summary of Position

Responsible for ensuring the security and safety of guests and employees at Rocket City, which includes a bowling alley, restaurant, and video game arcade. The Security Officer maintains security over the facility during assigned shifts and escorts internal money transfers throughout the establishment. Escorts customers and employees to ensure their safety.

  • Protect and preserve the property of Rocket City. Ensure all areas, equipment, and furnishings are kept exceptionally neat, clean, and in good repair.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide overall protection from, and elimination of, anything that may jeopardize the welfare and security of the company assets, properties, guests/customers, and employees.
  • Patrol the buildings and grounds.
  • Safeguard the assets of Rocket City.
  • Respond to radio and emergency calls as needed.
  • Prepare accident and incident reports.
  • Maintain excellent customer relations at all times.
  • Periodically examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure.
  • Ban violators of rule infractions and apprehend or expel persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts.
  • Periodically inspect equipment and machinery to ascertain if tampering has occurred.
  • Watch for and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and security doors left unlocked.
  • Sound the alarm or call the police/fire department by telephone in case of emergency.
  • Register at watch stations to record time of inspection trips.
  • Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, and malfunctioning of machinery or equipment.
  • Perform janitorial duties and set thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperature in buildings or cold storage rooms.
  • Respond to medical emergencies.
  • Regulate vehicle and pedestrian traffic at Rocket City entrance to maintain orderly flow.
  • Adhere to all regulatory, departmental, and facility policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with other departments and maintain open communication with all employees.
  • Stand/walk for a longer period of time while at post or on patrol.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) or six months to one year job-related experience may be substituted.
  • Mescalero Apache Tribal preference; bicultural experience preferred.
  • Must hold a valid state driver’s license or be able to obtain one.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential duties of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk or hear. Must be able to use handheld communications devices. The team member must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The team member must be able to stand for several hours.

The noise level in the work environment is loud. The team member may be exposed to biohazardous fluids such as blood and other body fluids. The team member may be exposed to hostile environments with guests. May be subject to high-stress environments.
