Position Duties
- Instruction of arts and crafts, games, nature education and other outdoor related activities.
- Act as a role model; provide first aid; ensure the safety of children and complete necessary forms and reports.
- Plan and coordinate activities with the Day Camp Director; assistance in other parks and recreation programs as needed, including the Allen USA Celebration.
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Less than a High School Diploma or equivalent with no prior work experience.
- Must be at least eighteen (18) years old.
- CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License
- Must be available for work Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Medium - Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Other Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Youth development and age-appropriate recreation.
- Safety procedures, CPR/First Aid, and emergency response.
- Recreational programming (arts, crafts, sports, nature, etc.)
- City of Allen's PRIDE values and local standards of care.
- Supervising and engaging with children in camp settings.
- Leading recreational and educational activities.
- Communicating effectively with youth, parents, and staff.
- Promoting safety, enforcing rules, and providing first aid.
