Hurricane Evacuation Shelter Support- Independent Contractor – Behavioral Health Care Provider
Location: Sarasota County, FL – Onsite in Designated Hurricane Shelters

Contract Overview
Capacity Path is building a roster of specialized behavioral health and crisis support contractors to serve in Sarasota County hurricane evacuation shelters during storm events.
When activated, contractors will provide a minimum of five (5) consecutive 12-hour days of onsite support, delivering crisis-informed counseling, behavioral health interventions, and resilience support to evacuees and shelter staff. Depending on storm conditions, contractors may be required to remain onsite overnight until it is safe to leave.
Scope of Work
Contractors may:
- Provide immediate emotional and behavioral health support to shelter residents and staff.
- Deliver brief crisis counseling, coping strategies, and resilience techniques.
- Identify and assist individuals in acute distress and coordinate referrals as needed.
- Maintain documentation of services provided for reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with shelter managers, emergency management personnel, and other onsite responders to support shelter operations.
- Promote a safe, calm, and supportive environment in high-stress conditions.
Requirements
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome contractors with backgrounds in:
- Licensed Clinical Mental Health Professionals (LMHC, LMFT, Psychologists)
- Social Workers (LCSW, MSW, Registered Interns)
- Health & Wellness Coaches (Board-Certified preferred)
- Peer Support or Life Coaches
- Addiction or Sleep Specialists
- Functional Medicine & Wellness Practitioners
- Sports, Fitness, or Performance Psychologists
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Relevant professional experience in crisis care, counseling, wellness, or resilience training.
- Ability to commit to five consecutive 12-hour days during hurricane shelter activation.
- Willingness to stay onsite overnight if conditions require.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- If licensed or certified, current credentials must be provided.
Preferred Experience:
- Service in high-stress or emergency environments.
- Familiarity with shelter operations, emergency management, or disaster recovery.
- Training in trauma-informed care and cultural competency.
Contract Terms
- Type: Independent Contractor (1099) – Temporary, On-Call Deployment Role
- Compensation: $400–$700/day, based on qualifications and scope.
- Travel & Lodging: Provided or reimbursed for deployments requiring overnight stays.
- Commitment: No obligation to deploy unless mutually agreed at activation.
- Training: Response-specific training provided pre-deployment and in-field.
