BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Helps further GECU’s mission and purpose through Youth Financial Education, strategic giving, and programs that make a measurable impact in the communities that we serve. Develops, manages, and executes short-term and long-term plans for the Community Development department under the guidance and approval of the AVP of Community Development. Develops meaningful relationships, measures impact of donations and programs, and oversees and manages policies, procedures and other related operations assuring compliance and financial reporting with grants and agreements with community partners.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Builds and administers a strategic planning process for Mi Comunidad Community Center Programs, VITA program, Student Board of Directors, Give Back Community initiatives, Youth Financial Education and Outreach, and other community development programs.
Collaborates with the Director of Adult Community Programs with the ongoing member financial education program, financial education workshops, and online education that are aligned with best practices to meet HUD certifications.
Collaborates with the Director of Adult Community Programs with the implementation and measurement of an extensive VITA program, which includes volunteer recruitment, training, and overall support to school partners and volunteers.
Makes recommendations, implements, and evaluates programs and activities for Community Development.
Delivers outreach and recruitment to specific populations targeted for financial literacy needs in Texas, New Mexico, and other communities within the credit union’s field of membership.
Promotes programs and services that meet the needs of the community.
Leads ongoing Community Development projects to improve impact and efficiencies to better serve the community.
Makes recommendations regarding staffing decisions relating to hiring, compensation, and terminations.
Builds and manages relationships with public and private sectors to build community programs and support for programs consistent with GECU’s mission of community development.
Manages the overall GECU Give Back Initiatives and builds plans that optimize donations, grants, program costs, and impact. Ensures all charitable giving and execution of programs align with GECU’s mission and purpose and the GECU policies.
Responsible for developing, researching, and compiling strategic, long-term plans for VP approval that include a rationale to meet the goals and mission of GECU.
Cultivates collaborative community relationships that make a measurable impact through research, engagement, program development, and execution. Ensures strong communication with donors, community partners, and stakeholders.
Collaborates with the Director of Adult Community Programs and AVP of Community Development in preparing the department budget and tracking incentive expenses.
Works closely with the communication team to develop a strategic marketing plan and deliverables for new programs and projects.
Develops the project plan in accordance with the scope and deliverables of the project.
Initiates and nurtures relationships with schools, community organizations, and educational institutions to create a network for identifying and connecting with prospective high school seniors for our student board of directors.
Ensure compliance on a day-to-day basis within the areas of your responsibility and ensure that employees will receive the necessary training to comply with applicable regulations, to include Grant Compliance and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC), which apply specifically to their job.
Other duties as may be assigned or required in connection with the general operation of the credit union.
