About the Department
Colonial Behavioral Health provides opportunities for recovery to individuals and their family members in the areas of mental illness, substance use disorder, and developmental disabilities. Colonial Behavioral Health serves the citizens of James City County, City of Poquoson, City of Williamsburg, and York County.
Position Duties
Job Responsibilities
- Works directly with individuals with serious mental illness and/or serious mental illness with co-occurring substance use and/or developmental disabilities who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
- Responsible for identifying housing needs, assist them with applying for and securing housing, and assist participants to develop and implement a housing plan designed to assist the participant to maintain stable housing.
- Responsible for managing a caseload, provide supportive counseling and in-home housing focused skill supports.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Monday – Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm
Occasional evening or weekend hours based on program needs.

- Knowledge of case management duties and responsibilities.
- Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Possess the ability to interact with clients, coworkers, and the public in a pleasant, tactful and courteous manner.
- Effective communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in the Behavioral Sciences or related field required.
- Experience working with adults with mental illness and co-occurring disorders. required
- Valid Driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.
