PUENTE NEWS COLLABORATIVE STUDENT FELLOWSHIP

This fellowship program will offer you the opportunity to reach your professional goals and strengthen your passion for storytelling by building editorial and technical skills as you work on multi-media stories with journalists across El Paso and Juarez.

The Puente News Collaborative is a unique binational news collaboration publishing stories about significant issues faced by communities along the border.

You will be based out of the ABC-7 newsroom while you learn from and contribute to news gathering and production of border-related stories for broadcast, digital and social channels. Your training will include researching, pitching and developing compelling elements for stories, writing, editing and presentation.

Guidelines:

-The fellowship, which will take place during the Fall 2025 semester, lasts 15 weeks (September 8-December 20).

-You must be a junior, senior or graduate student to participate.

-The fellowship will require you to accompany reporters as they work in El Paso and Juarez, so you must have the necessary cross-border transit documents.

-Pay: $12/hr.

-Hours: flexible, depending on story needs. The fellowship program calls for a commitment of 19 hours per week.

-Must pass a pre-employment background check, MVR check, drug screening and possess a valid driver license.
