The Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto and the Division of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Department of Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are seeking to recruit a qualified academic Physiatrist who would fulfill the academic position description of a Clinician Teacher or Clinician in Quality and Innovation. The successful candidate must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto. It is expected that the position will be 75% clinical and 25% related to research, teaching, quality improvement initiatives, and/or administrative duties. The anticipated start date is early 2026 but can be negotiated to suit candidates needs.
Clinical expectations will be providing PM&R care in outpatient and inpatient settings at Sunnybrook Bayview and St. John’s Rehab campuses for MSK and Amputee rehabilitation patients. Clinical expertise in MSK, Trauma, Limb loss would be an asset. Access to ultrasound for guided injections is available. Outpatient clinics in other areas of Physiatry are available dependent on applicant skills and interest.
The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and have, or be eligible for, certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated clinical excellence in PM&R with advanced training in Teaching, Education, and/or Quality Improvement and Patient Safety. This position will support the need for teaching, quality and innovation in the diverse PM&R clinical practice settings, including inpatient and outpatient venues across the campuses of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs of the University of Toronto as appropriate.
The successful candidate will report to the Division Head of PM&R at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. Remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association through which clinical billings and benefits will be administered. The candidate will have the option to participate in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
