John Mulhall came to Omaha in 1953 to landscape, and now, three generations later, we’re as committed as we’ve ever been to making Omaha a more beautiful place to live. A DAY IN THE LIFE
As a member of our Merchandising + Pro Sales team at Mulhalls Garden + Home. You'll report to the Merchandising + Pro Sales Manager. You'll be responsible for developing and implementing the merchandising strategy for our home and holiday departments. You'll tell the story, drive planned sales, maximize inventory efficiency, and hit profitability targets - all in line with our vision to be the most loved plant shop in the country.
YOUR IMPACT
oChampion our product philosophy and brand story - closely following market trends and monitoring business results, adapting as needed
oEstablish, grow, and maintain strong vendor partnerships through consistent communication, effective negotiation, and some market travel
oOwn the creation of all floor set planograms and work closely with the Store team on execution and presentation
oOwn and present strategies for each of your departments seasonally – driving sales, margin, and turn
oBuild seasonal plans that align with strategy goals while monitoring your monthly Open to Buy projections, taking actionable steps based on business fluctuations
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
o3+ years of experience in retail buying or a related field
oAn interest in and awareness of evolving trends
oA strong sense of urgency and the ability to initiate action without daily direction
oAn ability to multi-task, keeping several projects running at one time
oAttention to detail with a strong discipline to solve problems and drive results
oAn ability to think both critically and analytically
oA passion for building and sustaining collaborative relationships at multiple levels within a company
oAn ability to use various software applications
