Qualifications:     

High School diploma/GED required. 

Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience required.

Experience working in an education environment preferred.

Excellent computer skills and strong communication skills required.

 

Description:

The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates who possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community.  SDST is committed to diversity in our workplace and welcomes the opportunity to consider all candidates.  The Administrative Assistant to the High School serves as the principal’s primary administrative support, facilitating the effective and efficient operation of the school office. This position requires discretion, professionalism, and strong organizational abilities to manage communications, scheduling, and record-keeping. The Administrative Assistant acts as a liaison between the school administration, faculty, parents, students, and the community while upholding the values and expectations of the district.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for students, parents, staff, and community members interacting with the high school principal’s office.

  • Manage the principal’s calendar, schedule appointments, coordinate meetings, and maintain confidentiality at all times.

  • Prepare correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other documents as directed, with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.

  • Organize and maintain school records, staff files, and student documentation in compliance with district policies and law.

  • Assist with coordination of building-level events, staff activities, and principal-led initiatives.

  • Receive, screen, and route incoming calls, emails, and visitors to the appropriate personnel.

  • Maintain attendance records for staff and assist with substitute coordination as needed.

  • Process discipline referrals, suspensions, and documentation, maintaining confidentiality and integrity in handling student matters.

  • Support the principal in coordinating evaluations, observations, and related personnel functions.

  • Track and compile data related to budgets, requisitions, and school purchasing.

  • Maintain office supplies and ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the main office.

  • Participate in school safety procedures and serve as part of the school’s emergency response protocols.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or district administration.

Terms of employment:     

12 month, full-time position, 7 hours per day 7:15am-3:15pm, Monday through Friday. Position to be determined in accordance with the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement to begin as soon as possible. Hours subject to change based on district needs.
