The Staff Accountant I is a critical member of the accounting team and an integral role in the accurate and timely reporting of financial statements. Core responsibilities include supporting the month-end close process, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, and assisting with audits and ad hoc requests. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and proactive, with a strong desire to improve processes and challenge the status quo. This individual is a self-starter with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Participate in the month-end/year-end close process, including preparation and posting of journal entries
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts in accordance with US GAAP, including but not limited to prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and accrued expenses
- Prepare and analyze financial reports, investigating variances and discrepancies in an effective and timely manner
- Partner cross-functionally with teams such as Accounts Payable, Treasury, Inventory, Operations, and Marketing to support business processes and reporting accuracy
- Support the development and documentation of internal controls in compliance with SOX
- Respond to internal and external audit requests
- Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives that enhance accuracy and efficiency
- Perform other accounting duties and ad hoc projects as needed
REQUIEREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA/BS in Accounting is required; CPA certification strongly preferred
- 2+ years of relevant experience in accounting or auditing. Experience in a consumer products and/or e-commerce company is a plus
- Big 4 or national firm Public Accounting experience is required
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and solve complex problems
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization
- A continuous improvement mindset – actively seeks out opportunities to streamline processes and drive efficiencies
- High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail

Annual base pay: $65,000 - $70,000. Final pay rate shall be determined and is based on experience and qualifications.
