Regulatory Specialist

  • First time run sheets, sample requests, and other requirements through Docuware (or current program).
  • Assist department and customers with regulatory inquiries. 
  • Complete questionnaires for customers.
  • Provide standard documents (audits, emergency contacts, HACCP flowcharts, lot code explanations, etc.).
  • Create/interpret custom documents (allergen, COI, COO, GMO, Halal, Kosher, LOG, nutritional, spec, range statements, etc.).
  • Answer customer questions regarding products (confirm ingredients).
  • Review and upload customer documents into TraceGains (or other programs).
  • Protect proprietary information.
  • Assist in assuring accuracy of labeling for all finished products and ingredients.
  • Assist in maintaining ingredient files to assure accuracy.
  • Maintain working knowledge of USDA regulations and other various food laws.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgement involving decisions relating to regulatory compliance.
  • Filing, general administrative duties.
  • Other duties as assigned or directed.

Note: The spices can create a dusty environment and sometimes have high heat intensity or contain allergens.  If you are sensitive to these conditions, this job may not be the right fit for you.

Qualifications


What we’re looking for & things you need:

  • RELIABILITY - Team members who show up every shift, on time, and can work occasional overtime.  If you’re not ready to commit, this isn’t for you.
  • High School diploma/GED required
  • Associate’s degree is highly preferred, bachelor’s degree a plus
  • 2-3 years’ food industry experience required
  • 3-4 years’ experience in regulatory preferred
  • US Food Law background highly preferred
  • US Food Law courses, International Food Law courses, related webinars (various) preferred
  • Must be able to multi-task and have attention to detail with good organizational skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively
  • Must have proficient computer skills; ability to develop spreadsheets
  • Must have an aptitude for computer programs
  • Must have strong ability to navigate client portals
  • TraceGains and/or Docuware experience a plus
  • Must act with a sense of urgency, following up with all departments to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to question/challenge things that don’t seem right
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
  • Able to extend arms with hands over the head or at shoulder height
  • Hold, grasp, or turn with the use of hands
  • Touch, pickup, and pinch with the use of fingers
  • Kneel, stoop or bend downwards and forward
  • Express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words.  Convey detailed instructions to others
  • Able to hear, understand and distinguish speech and/or other sounds such as machinery alarms
  • Near and far visual acuity required
  • Work in an environment that is noisy, dusty and may contain spices with high heat intensity
  • Withstand working in cold and hot temperatures for long periods of time
  • Ability to follow GMPs.  We make food your family and friends will eat, which means we have strict rules for food safety.  Jewelry, false eyelashes, and fake fingernails are not permitted in the manufacturing plant. If these are things you can’t go without, this job isn’t for you.
