Job Description Summary

Control of all Safety, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Engineering, and Project activities for the Site, including production scheduling, purchasing, warehousing and all associated operations. Ideally the candidate will have a hands on type approach to plant management with a view to implementing best practice, establishing and developing a high performance team, and creating a culture of continuous improvement.

Job Description

  • Ensure and promote the safety of all employees to the highest level. 
  • Responsible for championing and implementing Operational disciplines (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Q/A, Q/C, HSE and Facilities).  
  • Responsible for contributing to and implementing an operations strategy consistent with the business strategy to build, maximizing synergies across disciplines and integrating activities to improve operational efficiencies and effectiveness.  
  • To identify and develop talent in organization. Focusing on career progression, succession planning, knowledge transfer, and increasing organizational capacity and capability. 
  • Implement the most effective technology and best practices in all areas of operations. 
  • Establish a culture of continuous improvement by leading Operation Excellence initiatives. 
  • Ensure the application of best practice and that Elementis systems, procedures and standards are applied across all activities progressing towards 'World Class' standards. 
  • Establish and progress all operational initiatives requiring capital authorization. 
  • Establish positive and collaborative working relationships with the workforce, to enable business strategies to progress with minimal disruption. 
  • Interface with Customer Service / Logistics / Supply Chain and ensure production schedules satisfy customer needs. 
  • Ensure departmental budgets are managed and costs contained within agreed levels. 
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, such as OHSA, etc 
  • Identify and implement improvements in site operations to remove cost, improve HSE standards and improve productivity in line with Profit Improvement Plans. 
  • Ensure the site is operated within company quality, environmental and safety standards. 
  • Identify and manage site / operations improvement projects. 
  • Develop new processes to improve plant effectiveness and to remove cost. 
  • Submit accurate reports both verbally and in writing as required, in particular the plant Monthly Report, Stable Manufacturing Report, Profit Improvement Plan Report. 
  • Ensure Capital Appropriation Requests and Capital Spending Plans are in place as appropriate and ensure accurate budget control.  
  • Ensure that a quality management system (QMS) which meets requirements of ISO 9001 standard is implemented and maintained. Allocate resources as needed to support the QMS. 
  • Establish Quality Policy and ensure quality objectives and KPI goals are achieved 
  • Conduct periodic management reviews to ensure that the QMS is effective 
  • Ensure all employees understand their role in supporting the quality policy with regards to: 
  • Reporting and preventing the occurrence of any non-conformity relating to the product, process, and quality system. 
  • Controlling further processing or delivery of non-conforming product until the deficiencies or unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. 
  • Using the Risk Log program and Internal Audit process to initiate, recommend and resolve product issues or quality system failures. 

Additional Job Description

Education: Degree in relevant discipline (Chemistry, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering)  

Experience: 5-10 years of managerial experience with budgetary responsibility in a chemical or allied industry 

IT Skills:  

 Microsoft 365 Suite 

Language Skills:  

 English
