JOB SUMMARY
Performs one or more routine accounting/bookkeeping operations, such as posting simple journal vouchers, accounts payable vouchers, entering vouchers into the register, reconciling bank statements and posting subsidiary ledgers controlled by general ledgers, this job does not require knowledge of accounting principles and is often found where more routine accounting work is subdivided on a functional basis among several workers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Posts details of business transactions, such as allotments, disbursements, payroll deductions etc.
- Compiles invoice batch totals for data processing and check registers for proper payment.
- Calculates unit price on direct manufacturing materials/ingredients and reports changes.
- Distributes expenses to the appropriate account and contacts purchasing with questions.
- Combines invoices with correct receiving documents and forwards for approval.
- Confirms that all purchases are approved within company guidelines.
- Ensures payments are timely to take advantage of any discounts.
- Verifies all extensions are correct and approved on a line basis.
- Prepares various expense recaps monthly.
- Supports the organization’s commitment to ensure that our food safety and quality plans conform to all regulatory requirements and with food quality and the safety requirements of our customers and reports any problems or penitential problems observed concerning food safety and quality to Supervision immediately.
- Maintains vendor master file. Types vouchers, account statements, payrolls, periodic reports etc.
- Maintains state sales and uses tax files, prepares quarterly returns and submits for payment.
Maintains investor capital records (106 accounts) and generates statements on a monthly basis. - Performs other duties as assigned by the General Accounting Manager.
Qualifications
EDUCATION
Minimum of High School education with basic knowledge of general office procedures.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Good vision, color vision, hearing, speaking ability and finger dexterity. Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull, use personal computer, lift/carry up to approximately 20 lbs.
MINIMUM MENTAL OR COGNITIVE REQUIREMENTS
Ability to read, write, follow instructions, perform mathematical calculations, record/report information and draw conclusions from a visual and/or physical inspection of assigned tasks.
WORK DEVICES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Computer, fax machine, copy/duplicating equipment, adding machine and various office hand tools.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Exposed to general office conditions with occasional exposure to dust and dirt.
