Description

Job purpose

The Equipment Technician, under the supervision of the Equipment Manager, assists in the repair and maintenance of all motorized equipment.  Also, he/she does a variety of mechanical repair and maintenance work independently, services motorized equipment, and conducts related work as assigned by the Equipment Manager.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Works with Equipment Manager to maintain a preventative maintenance program for all equipment involved in landscape grounds and golf course maintenance.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and curative maintenance which is required to keep the equipment in good condition.
  • Performs diagnostic procedures on facility equipment.
  • Assist the Equipment Manager with ensuring equipment maintenance shop and all appropriate areas are clean, organized, and provide a safe working environment for department staff.
  • Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and is always in safe working condition.
  • Works with Equipment Manager to ensure proper equipment record keeping.
  • Perform routine maintenance on small 2-cycle equipment.
  • Assist in daily preparation and set-up of cutting units.
  • Assist the Equipment Manager with reel and bed knife sharpening.
  • Performs routine maintenance on tires (checking proper inflation, inspecting tire wear, replacing as needed).
  • Assist with any maintenance needs to facility and surrounding areas.
  • Assists with any engineering and/or fabrication needs of the maintenance department.
  • Works with management team to ensure employees are trained to operate equipment properly.
  • Assist in other departments and performs additional related duties as required.
  • Ensures that al members, guests, and co-workers are treated in a friendly and respectful manner in accordance with the standards of excellence of The Ford Field and River Club.

Qualifications


Qualifications and Experience             

  • Basic mechanical experience with gas, diesel, and small engine repair would be beneficial.
  • Basic knowledge of reel units and grinding desire however not required. Proper training will be available to the right candidate.
  • Basic computer skills required.
  • Ability to carry out detailed written and verbal instructions independently.

Working conditions

Works in a garage and outdoors environment which has fluctuations with the local weather.  Must be able to work some overtime including weekends and holidays.

Physical requirements

Ability to perform heavy physical work, may be required to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly, performing such activities as bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping for up to five hours without sitting.

Vision must be correctable to read and write.  Hearing must be sufficient to understand conversation on the telephone in a noisy environment.  Must have hand usage to operate various equipment as required.
