Job Title: Prep Cook/Server – Hansberger Clubhouse, Redlands
Department: Community Impact
Location: Redlands, CA (in-person)
Schedule: Part-time, 28 hours per week, Monday – Friday
Reports To: Community Impact Manager
FLSA Status: Non-exempt

PURPOSE STATEMENT
 The Prep Cook plays a vital role in supporting youth wellness by preparing nutritious meals and snacks that fuel their success and growth. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a safe, welcoming Club environment where young people develop essential life skills and thrive.

POSITION SUMMARY
 The Prep Cook supports the Community Impact Team by preparing nutritious, youth-friendly meals and snacks at the Hansberger Clubhouse. This role requires attention to food safety and sanitation standards, excellent multitasking abilities, and a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive Club environment. The Prep Cook contributes to the health and well-being of youth while working collaboratively with staff and volunteers.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and cook daily breakfasts and snacks focused on nutritious, appealing options for youth
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen following all health department and food safety standards
  • Track food inventory and coordinate supply orders with vendors
  • Assist with menu planning and incorporate youth preferences when possible
  • Serve meals ensuring proper portions, food presentation, and allergen awareness
  • Keep accurate meal counts and documentation for compliance with health and funding guidelines
  • Monitor kitchen equipment and promptly report any maintenance needs
  • Engage positively with youth and staff to support a welcoming, safe Club environment
  • Support Club events and off-schedule meal needs as required
  • Ensure compliance with USDA Child Nutrition Program requirements when applicable
  • Collaborate closely with program staff to align meal service with daily activities and nutrition goals
  • Participate in periodic deep cleaning and health inspection preparations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Work closely with Community Impact Team, Club leadership, staff, and volunteers
  • External: Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to maintain food inventory

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary or nutrition training preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of cooking experience, preferably in high-volume or youth-focused settings
  • Strong knowledge of kitchen operations, food handling, and sanitation practices
  • Valid California Food Handler Certification or ability to obtain upon hire
  • Excellent multitasking, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing program needs and attendance fluctuations
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, bend, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with youth or youth-serving food programs
  • Familiarity with federal meal reimbursement programs
  • Experience coordinating volunteers or kitchen leadership
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus
  • Allergen Awareness Certification (highly recommended)

PHYSICAL & MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Indoor kitchen environment with exposure to heat, humidity, and kitchen noise
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs, and cleaning duties
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Schedule includes early mornings or adjusted hours based on Club needs
