Plastics Process Technician

Shift: Night Shift (Monday-Thursday, 6:00pm - 6:00am)

Will also be paid a shift differential


Position Summary
The Plastics Process Technician is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS)  machine and accompanying automation equipment to manufacture high-quality consumables used in our diagnostic products. This includes performing startups, changeovers, quality inspections, maintenance activities, and supporting production goals while adhering to all cGMP and safety requirements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform machine startups and shutdowns, including completion of startup checklists and ensuring readiness for production.
  • Complete preventive maintenance (PMs) and basic maintenance tasks to ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, including organization, reordering needs, and availability for maintenance tasks.
  • Run BFS and automation machines during production, monitoring parameters to maintain consistent output and prevent equipment stoppages
  • Verify in-process QC checks including visual inspections, dimensional measurements, fill volume, wall thickness, and perform leak testing to ensure products meet specifications. Adjust allowable settings to bring specifications back within approved tolerances.
  • Accurately fill out batch records and logs in compliance with cGMP requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting and problem-solving efforts to minimize downtime and improve processes.
  • Perform material management ensuring that there are sufficient materials for uninterrupted production.
  • Manage production materials efficiently, including packaging finished products, replacing raw materials, and removing scrap from production floor.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety policies and procedures.


    Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, injection molding or Blow Fill Seal operations strongly preferred
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with ability to perform manual machine adjustments and routine maintenance.
  • Familiarity with GMP documentation practices and batch record completion is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform accurate quality checks.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive tasks, including standing for long periods.
  • Willingness to work night shifts and a flexible training schedule with nights through end of year.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.


    Work Environment
  • Manufacturing cleanroom environment, requiring gowning procedures and adherence to sterile operations.
  • Exposure to mechanical equipment, compressed air, and steam.
  • Fast-paced production environment with focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
