Basketball Program Instructor

Weare seeking a passionate and skilled Basketball Instructor to join our team. Asa Basketball Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching lessons toindividuals or groups of varying ages and skill levels. Your primary goal willbe to provide engaging and effective instruction that helps players improvetheir techniques, physical conditioning, and overall enjoyment of the sport.

Payrange: $20.00 - $45.00/hour; starting pay based on qualifications.This is an hourly, part-time position, consisting of up to 20 hours per week.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Basketball Program Site Supervisor will assist in the smooth operation of the seasonal basketball league coordinated by Concord Recreation. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, creativity, and a passion for basketball, along with knowledge of basketball rules and regulations.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

External and internal applicants, as well as position incumbents who are or become disabled as defined under the Americans With Disabilities Act, must be able to perform the essential job functions (as listed) either unaided or with the assistance of a reasonable accommodation to be determined by management on a case-by-case basis.

  • Serve as a member of the Concord Recreation team, supporting the department's objectives in accordance with Town policies and emergency procedures.

  • Assist Recreation Supervisor(s) with pre-event tasks, including inventorying supplies, organizing materials, and preparing courts for games and practices.

  • Set up event equipment, such as basketball cages and scoreboards, and maintain knowledge of game schedules.

  • Provide excellent customer service to players, coaches, and spectators.

  • Work weekends to support programs, with league play occurring on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons.

  • Perform special projects and related responsibilities as requested.

  • Maintain regular attendance during the schedule (September – March). Works with Recreation staff to coordinate programs for each seasonal brochure based on instructor skill sets and interest areas.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

None.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-4 years of high school; advanced education in related field preferred.
  • Experience teaching or running sports and recreation programs preferred.
  • CPR and first aid certified preferred, Concord Recreation will provide training to candidate upon hiring if necessary.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • A personality and character that exudes flexibility, trustworthiness, creativity, and positivity.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • A tremendous work ethic.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed.
  • Confidence and positive presence in both group and one-on-one settings.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must agree to and pass a CORI and SORI Background Check, the cost of which will be borne by the Town.
  • Proven experience as a Tennis Instructor or Coach preferred.
  • Strong playing ability and technical knowledge of tennis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work with players of all ages and skill levels.
  • Certification from a recognized tennis association (preferred).
  • CPR and First Aid certification (preferred).
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, talk and hear.
