Responsibilities
 
Shamrock Trading Corporation is looking for a Data Systems Analyst to join the Data Services team. The primary objective of this role is to support and extend Shamrock technology solutions related Data source integrations and pipeline projects. This role will be collaborate extensively with both our Shamrock business unit leadership as well as the Shamrock Technology team. The role will create/contribute to business case development, requirements articulation, project/program planning, produce test plans and ultimately help deliver technology solutions that support the growth of Shamrock. 
  • Monitor project progress by tracking activity, coordinating problem resolution, publish progress reports, and recommending actions. 
  • Define project requirements by identifying project timelines, phases and elements, determining scope, and establishing project expenses. 
  • Differentiate user requests from the underlying true needs and distinguish solution ideas from requirements. 
  • Work with business owners to convert high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements and prioritize requirements.   
  • Manage changes to baseline requirements through effective application of change control processes and tools and manage system enhancement requests. 
  • Implement appropriate mitigation strategies that may involve compromises with respect to scope and schedule.  
  • Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. 
  • Create workaround procedures when standard procedures have failed and ensure issues are resolved in a timely fashion. 
  • Develop Jira stories sub-tasks and define acceptance criteria. 
  • Create and use entity relationship diagrams and process flow diagrams. 
  • Work closely with data architecture, lead data engineer, and principal data engineer to develop and document project technical requirements and architectural processes. 
  • Write project requirements documents. 
  • Work closely with enterprise project management teams, Data Services, and Data/ML engineers on a daily basis. 
Qualifications 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 
  • Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills. 
  • Technical writing experience is a plus. 
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new skills. 
  • Strong analytical, innovative and problem-solving skills. 
  • Exposure to (experience with preferred) SQL and Python. 
  • Exposure to SDLC and Agile engineering best practices. 
  • Minimum 2 years experience with Data Engineering - related to ETL, Relational Data, Non-Relational Data, SFTPs, Databases, Data Lakes, Reporting (PBI or equivalent), and data integration projects. 
  • Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical steps and requirements. 
  • Strong understanding of Jira and effectively use for issue tracking, project management, and workflow management, particularly within an Agile framework. 
  • Ability to guide and influence work among various teams.  
  • Diverse business knowledge and the ability to illustrate the linkage between projects and desired business results. 
  • Well organized with strong detail orientation.
