Position Summary: 

The Director of Operations is a key leadership role responsible for driving revenue through effective operations, overseeing all Regional Operations Managers (ROMs), and ensuring the standardization of Gear Wash operations across all sites. This role aims to enhance efficiency, maintain consistent work standards and instructions, and support the rollout and maintenance of the work order tracking system, Gear Tracker. The Director of Operations will also be responsible for ensuring that every site has the proper verification and is compliant with the safety program. Additionally, this role will focus on managing the overall team, ensuring a great associate experience, and driving customer satisfaction and engagement. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Leadership and Management: Oversee and manage all Regional Operations Managers, ensuring alignment with company goals and operational standards. Build a strong culture and enhance the associate experience across all sites.
  • Standardization: Develop and implement standardized processes and procedures across all Gear Wash sites to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Software Implementation and Use: Lead the rollout, adoption, and effective use of the new work order tracking system, Gear Tracker, across all sites.
  • Verification and Compliance: Ensure that all sites have the proper verification and comply with company and industry safety standards. Manage a professional relationship with Underwriters Laboratories (UL) on behalf of all Gear Wash sites. This includes scheduling Verifications and check-ins, as well as helping site leaders to coordinate logistics of supply/test shipments as needed.
  • Operational Excellence: Monitor and evaluate site performance, implementing strategies to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Safety Program: Develop, implement, and oversee the safety program to ensure a safe working environment for all associates.
  • Customer Satisfaction and Engagement: Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and engagement, including conducting quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
  • Maintenance and Facilities: Oversee the maintenance and facilities management to ensure all sites and equipment are well-maintained and operational.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including IT, HR, and Finance, to support overall business objectives and operational strategies.
  • Partnership with Business Development: Partner with Business Development to streamline new account onboarding, enhance operational efficiency related to customer retention, and participate in end-user site visits.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports to senior management on operational performance, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field or commensurate work experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in general operations management, demonstrating a strong track record of improving operational efficiency, managing cross-functional teams, and implementing process improvements. Experience should include overseeing daily operations, managing workflow, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • 3+ years of multi-site, multi-state operational leadership with a demonstrated track record of revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and associate development, preferably within the manufacturing or service industry.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with software implementation and project management.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, including NFPA, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to travel to various Gear Wash sites as needed with an estimated 50% travel.
  • Experience with personal protective equipment (PPE), maintenance and care is preferred.
  • Live within 25 miles of a Gear Wash facility.

Physical Requirements:  

  • Sitting: Ability to remain seated for extended periods during travel and meetings.
  • Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including walking through airports and client sites.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry items such as luggage and promotional materials, typically up to 40 pounds.
  • Reaching: Ability to reach overhead and at or below shoulder level to access items in luggage compartments and storage areas.
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate verbally and non-verbally with associates, management, and clients during meetings, travel, and client site visits.
  • Visual Acuity: Ability to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing a computer screen, and reading documents.
  • Driving: Ability to drive a motor vehicle for travel to Gear Wash and client sites, and meetings.
