Residential Camp Program Manager

 

Job Overview

This position is responsible to the Camp Programs Director and works closely with the program team to fulfill the mission and vision of HoneyRock across all camp and student programs by providing leadership to the Summer Leadership School (SLS), Residential Camp and Catalyst 2 programs, and staff/student recruitment efforts. This role also serves as the Northwoods Passage Site Manager during Wheaton Passage. This is a full-time position located in Wheaton during the school year, and at HoneyRock in Three Lakes, WI from May – August.

 

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead Summer Leadership School (SLS)Leads the SLS and Residential Camp Team of 2-4 graduate assistants to fulfill the goals of HoneyRock’s SLS program including staff recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision. This involves overall leadership of approximately 40-50 student leaders, 750 campers, and 8 weeks of camp programs that produce over $1 million in revenue.
  • Coach and Develop Graduate Assistants: Fulfill the purposes of the OAL MA leadership development process (PGA, KPI, etc) by providing the necessary coaching and support to each graduate assistant engaged in Res Camp Elementary, Res Camp Middle School, and Catalyst 2.
  • Manage Program Planning and Implementation: Work in collaboration with Summer Program Team (Camp Programs Director and Outdoor Adventure Program Manager) to design, implement, and oversee camper programs – facilitating staff training and content, design of camper programs, addressing staff issues, addressing camper issues with appropriate parent communication, stewardship and development of staff team culture, enterprismic resource management, and guiding the overall hiring/selection of each overseen staff team.
  • Student and Staff Recruitment Manager: Work in collaboration with the Camp Programs Director, Outdoor Adventure Program Manager, and associated Graduate Assistants to coordinate student recruitment for summer staff and Wheaton in the Northwoods, including leadership of Southwoods Connection and Campus Ambassador teams and associated events.
  • Northwoods Passage Site Manager: Work with Passage Director and Passage Leadership Team (Urban, Equestrian, and Wilderness Site Managers) to plan and execute the Northwoods Track of Passage. This involves regular planning meetings throughout the year, facilitating staff training on site, and being the primary representative of the Passage program at HoneyRock each August.
  • Support the Camp Programs Director: Fulfill additional summer program leadership responsibilities, including support of the Summer Program Team, Residential Camp and Wilderness programs collaboration, enterprise planning, resource development, task force leadership, and running of logistical meetings.
  • Retreats: Provide leadership for retreats that intersect with above areas of responsibility, including but not limited to Fall Break (October), WinterFest (January), and Passage Student Leader Training (August).

Qualifications

  • MA in related field required.
  • Previous HoneyRock experience, multiple years and experiences preferred.
  • Excellent communication and persuasion skills.
  • Passion for and skills in discipleship, mentoring, and coaching of youth and college students.
  • Understanding of experiential education.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative program team.
  • Skills in promotion and customer relations.

 

Physical Requirements

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend; ascend/descend rugged terrain; lift/carry up to 40 pounds.
