LABORER/CENTRAL SUPPLY/COURIER – PART-TIME (not to exceed 29.5 hours per week; $17.72 /hour)
Position Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Director of Buildings & Grounds, the LABORER/CENTRAL SUPPLY/COURIER manages the district central supply, performs duties as the district courier, and performs general labor tasks for school buildings and grounds in an orderly, neat, safe and operable condition.
Essential Job Functions
Laborer Duties
Perform general custodial and maintenance tasks (e.g., sweeping, mopping, painting, trash removal).
Assist maintenance staff with minor repairs and facility upkeep.
Set up and dismantle furniture and equipment for school events or meetings.
Perform groundskeeping tasks such as snow removal, lawn care, and debris cleanup.
Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic maintenance equipment safely.
Load and unload deliveries or materials as required.
Central Supply Clerk Duties
Receive, inspect, and verify deliveries of supplies, materials, and equipment.
Organize and maintain central storage areas in a clean and orderly manner.
Track and manage inventory using manual logs or electronic systems.
Fulfill supply orders for schools and administrative offices in a timely manner.
Communicate with vendors and staff regarding order discrepancies or shortages.
Monitor stock levels and initiate restocking or purchasing requests.
Courier Duties
Deliver and pick up interoffice mail, packages, and supplies across district locations.
Ensure timely and accurate delivery schedules are maintained.
Operate district vehicles safely and maintain delivery records.
Assist with transporting equipment, furniture, or other materials between sites.
Report any vehicle maintenance issues or delivery concerns to supervisor
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Equipment
Uses cleaning supplies and hand tools of trade and related power equipment, including grass cutting equipment, saws, drills, and stationary power equipment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of fundamental tools, materials, practices, maintenance, methods and procedures in the carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades.
Knowledge of occupational safety and health laws and regulations.
Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with others.
Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagrammatic form.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
Ability to describe orally or in writing maintenance or repair problems as needed.
Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
Safety Requirements
Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used.
Wears appropriate safety gear.
Travel Requirements
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Ability to withstand heights and work in crawl spaces.
Typical risks associated with using tools of the trade.
Occasional strenuous physical work.
Occasional work in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
Qualifications Profile
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
High School Diploma.
Successful experience in building and grounds maintenance, and repair.
Motor Vehicle Operator's license or ability to provide own transportation.
