About the Department
The purpose of this classification is to support software applications, business processes, and users in the government sector. This highly technical position supports all aspects of software administration & configuration of assigned software applications, technical interfaces, and builds scripts and reports. Performs business analysis of data and business processes ensuring the applications provide the most value to the County, recommends solutions to meet business requirements, and delivers on projects.
Position Duties
This is a Hybrid position working remotely and onsite.
This position is part of the Applications Specialist and Administrator series; depending on prior experience/training and certifications the department reserves the right to hire candidates and promote accordingly.
The Forsyth County Information Systems and Technology Department has approved the following promotional track ladder (with position minimum requirements) effective September 1, 2023 :
Applications Specialist - Exempt, starting at $52,572.00/yr.
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by college level course work or vocational training in computer science, information systems, applications management or related field, supplemented by two (2) years of previous work experience and/or training that includes data analysis, application administration, systems administration and network administration or any equivalent combination of education, training experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this entry level position.
Applications Administrator - Exempt, starting at $70,087.00/yr.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field, supplemented by four (4) years previous experience involving application administration, data management, or software systems, SQL, Crystal or SSRS reporting or any equivalent combination of education, training which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Applications Administrator, Sr. - Exempt, starting at $74,834.00/yr.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or closely related field; supplemented by five (5) years previous experience involving application administration, data analysis, process automation, query scripting, programming and SQL, Crystal or SSRS reporting or any equivalent combination of education, training which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
Essential Functions
The following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Management of assigned software applications; follows procedures and processes to ensure accuracy and integrity of applications and data; ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violation, confers with staff members, assists with routine problems.
Monitors software applications and maintains system/application documentation.
Builds system user profiles, privileges, and security parameters; sets up users on server as authorized on server domain; software installation for new users; implements security access for authorized users; changes passwords and/or removes user accessibility as appropriate; implements system security measures and ensures integrity of system data.
Understands data, and utilizes this data to write various queries, reports, dashboards, to enable business processes and decision making.
As part of the Application team will write user test plans, conduct user acceptance testing, and resolve issues associated with standard configurations, workflows, and end user functions.
Provides Help Desk support to application users, to include receiving service requests, troubleshooting and resolving problems, providing training, interacts with end users; documents problem resolution for future reference; provides status reports of trouble calls to appropriate individuals. Ensures SLA are met.
Communicates with supervisor, employees, technology staff members, County departments, users, user groups, vendors, manufacturer representatives, state/federal agencies, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to perform work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.
Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies and business processes.
Provides tiered level support based on experience/qualifications and on-call support.
