The Mentor Teacher will support teachers working on clearing their credentials and/or newly hired teachers to the school. When mentoring teachers who are working toward clearing their credentials, the Mentor Teacher will provide all support required by the County Office of Education’s or University credential program. Further, the Mentor Teacher will help acclimate newly hired teachers to the culture of the school, develop teachers’ instructional and classroom management skills, and connect newly hired teachers with support structures within the school as needed. Must possess the ability to: . Develop, enhance, and enforce work standards . Three years of successful, full-time teaching of students required . Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement programmatic changes based on data and in consultation with stakeholders . Ability to communicate with and lead a diverse community . Interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures . Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others . Work independently with little direction . Meet schedules and timelines . Assist in the continued enhancement of the management of HCCTS by modeling appropriate behavior for and toward students and staff and by displaying professional conduct at all times Must possess an understanding of: . Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy . Operation of a computer and assigned software . Ethical conduct, integrity, and confidentiality applicable to mentoring, academic, and compliance roles . A comprehensive understanding of academic standards and practices

The position requires the following items to be attached to the application, or the application will not be considered: . Resume . Letter of Reference (at least 2 required) . Must possess a valid California teaching credential appropriate to the specific subject and grade level of the candidate they are mentoring . Five or more years of teaching preferred . At least three years of successful teaching experience in the credential area . Complete a minimum of 10 hours of professional development related to mentoring, adult learning theory, and current content-specific pedagogy (K-12) . Experience as a mentor teacher or instructional coach preferred . Bachelor’s degree required . Master’s degree in TESOL or Education preferred
