Temple University College of Public Health is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, non-tenure track faculty member to provide leadership, management, development, and coordination of the delivery of simulation learning within the College and the operation of its new, state-of-the art Integrative Simulation Center, opening in 2025. See a virtual tour of the center and Paley Hall here: https://cph.to/flythrough. The Director, in collaboration with faculty from our array of health professions, human services, and public health programs, will ensure the quality of simulation in support of student learning, interdisciplinary education and practice, and the evaluation of professional competencies. The Director will lead the program’s operations, including oversight of an Assistant Director and Simulation Lab Manager. Searches for the two staff positions are under way. The Director also will drive the program’s accreditation and certification efforts and collaborate with faculty to identify and develop research and scholarship opportunities to advance the College’s reputation as a leader and innovator in teaching. Faculty rank, department, and non-tenure classification will be determined based upon the successful candidate’s background and experience.
The College of Public Health’s mission is to educate, innovate, and transform to bring about healthy, equitable, and thriving communities. We engage in interprofessional education, community and clinical practice, impactful research, and service learning, approaching our work with cultural humility as we advocate for positive change and prepare leaders to address the most pressing issues of our time. We embrace public health as a catalyst for individual and community change in pursuit of the common good.
QUALIFICATIONS. The successful candidate will hold a doctoral degree in a health profession or public health field, be a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE), have a minimum of five years of clinical practice experience and at least three years of administrative experience in the delivery and development of simulation in continuing education or higher education. The candidate also should have experience in personnel and resource management and budgeting. Demonstrated experience with interprofessional simulation training, program development, and the scholarship of teaching and learning is preferred.
THE SIMULATION CENTER. Construction is underway for a full transformation of Paley Hall, which will be the College’s new home beginning in Fall 2025. The building’s forward-thinking design will provide a 20,836 square foot Integrative Simulation Center to support a model of training for interprofessional teams across the college’s health-focused disciplines from nursing to epidemiology, social work, and the rehabilitative sciences. Leading-edge technology will support a range of simulated care settings spanning community to acute health care environments, thus enabling training across the continuum of care and life span. These include standard simulation in hospital, emergency room, inpatient, and outpatient settings, as well as unique community settings, including a row home, grocery store, restaurant, park and emergency services ambulance simulator. This novel educational approach will better train students as leaders in an array of health fields.
