- Monitors and documents student progress and maintains communication with classroom staff and other staff.
- Assist staff, as appropriate, in the design, preparation, implementation, and evaluation of instructional programs and student progress.
- Files papers, runs on campus errands, operates standard office machines and performs minor clerical duties.
- Models appropriate behavior for students and assists in student supervision and discipline.
- Participates in meetings (department, touchpoints during PLCs, parent meetings).
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A paraeducator must meet one of the following:
- Have received a passing score on one of the assessments (e.g., ETS) approved by the board; or
- Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or
- Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at the 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university.
- One-year equivalent work experience and/or training preferred.
- Experience in a K-12 environment preferred.
- Experience with using integrated computerized systems (e.g., Skyward) and MS Office products preferred
- Substitution of any combination of experience and/or training that provides the applicant with the requisite knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work and meets applicable standards.

JOB TITLE: PARA EDUCATOR – SECONDARY MATH INTERVENTION
PURPOSE: Work under the direction of certificated staff to support providing instruction or other appropriate services to students while utilizing teaching interventions for math and language arts. The primary focus being on instructional support in math, Algebra, and Geometry.

QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of assigned subject area(s).
Skill and proficiency of verbal and written communication skills.
Skill and proficiency in special instructional techniques, computer software and other equipment to meet the needs of students.
Skill in obtaining, clarifying and exchanging information, in addition to being able to effectively gather, collect and record data.
Ability to effectively communicate with others in both oral and written form.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, parents, and students.
Ability to use job related equipment and technology effectively.
Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and responsibilities.
Ability to utilize appropriate strategies and techniques to provide effective instructional support.
Ability to comply with applicable District, State and federal rules, policies and practices.
REQUIRED LICENSES/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
CPR and First Aid certification. Student safety training. May be required to hold and maintain a valid State of Washington Driver’s License.
REPORTS TO:
Building principal and/or assigned administrator.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Assignment may include time in a classroom, lunchroom and/or after school support. May include lifting up to 15 pounds or more. Job duties involve frequent sitting, walking and standing. May include stooping, kneeling and/or crouching. May be exposed to high noise levels. Work is usually indoors but there may be times where work is performed outdoors. Work is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment. May be required to deal with distraught students or others.
REPORTS TO: Principal with regular direction from the Teacher(s)
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Work Year 180 days per year, plus paid holidays that fall within the school year
Hours: 6.5 hours paid per day, plus a half-hour unpaid duty-free lunch
Schedule 7:30 am - 2:30 pm (hours subject to change based on needs of the school)
Salary 2025-26 PSE Salary Schedule A
Paraeducator I $25.16 - $27.94
*Paraeducator II $27.25 - $30.13
*Paraeducator III $28.29 - $31.21
* Higher pay rate for:
Satisfactory completion of Educational Para-Professional Apprenticeship Program or
Accredited AA Degree (official transcripts are required) or
Seventy-two (72) quarter credits or forty-eight (48) semester credits (official transcripts are required)

Eligibility for benefits is determined by the number of hours an employee is anticipated to work during the school year (September 1 through August 31).
