REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
? High School Diploma or equivalent.
? Must be 18 years of age or older
? Must obtain the required state fingerprint clearance card.
? Experience in groundskeeping, horticulture, or a related field preferred.
? Basic knowledge of plant care, pest management, and grounds maintenance practices.
? Ability to operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment.
? Knowledge of irrigation systems.
? Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
? Good communication and interpersonal skills.
? Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
? Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
? Member of the Gila River Indian Community preferred
? Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Orchard Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as pruning, fertilizing, and watering trees and plants within the orchard area. Monitor plant health and address pest or disease issues promptly.
? Groundskeeping: Maintain the overall appearance and safety of the orchard grounds, including mowing, weeding, and edging. Ensure pathways and access areas are clear and well-maintained.
? Equipment Management: Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment and tools, including mowers, trimmers, and blowers. Perform regular checks and basic repairs as needed.
? Irrigation Management: Oversee the irrigation system to ensure efficient water usage and adjust schedules as necessary. Troubleshoot and repair irrigation system issues.
? Safety and Compliance: Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment. Adhere to district policies and procedures, including proper handling of chemicals and materials.
? Collaboration: Work closely with school staff and administrators to schedule maintenance tasks and address any specific needs or concerns related to the orchard area.
? Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including time spent, materials used, and any issues encountered. Report significant issues or needs to the Facilities Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
? Must demonstrate aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities and alternatives as specified by the supervisor
? Prepares seedling or transplanting beds by cultivating soil and adding fertilizer or chemicals, if needed.
? Plants seeds, bulbs, tree seedlings, and shrubbery so that resulting growth will produce attractive appearance.
? Experiments with different varieties of lawn and flower seeds to determine those best suited to the soil.

? Collects and disposes of leaves and refuse.
? Repair/maintenance/organization of Orchard greenhouses & sheds.
? Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate concerns.
? Assists other maintenance/custodial/grounds staff as may be required.
? Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include Operating equipment used in skilled trades, power and hand tools, etc.; adhering to safety practices; handling hazardous materials; and planning and managing projects.
KNOWLEDGE is required to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes variety of skilled trades and safety
ABILITY is required to gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is significant.
