Founded in 2013, Sparx Hockey is a privately held corporation located just outside of Boston in Acton, Massachusetts. Sparx Hockey is a developer and manufacturer of skate sharpening equipment and related accessories for ice hockey, figure skating and sled hockey. The Sparx Sharpener, the company’s flagship product, is an affordable, automated product that allows anyone, anywhere, with no prior skate sharpening experience, to easily sharpen hockey and figure skates with pro-level accuracy. More than 100,000 customers around the world are sharpening skates with Sparx, including individuals, families, teams, rink operators and pro shops.

As the Preferred At-Home Skate Sharpener of the NHL, Sparx Hockey works closely with some of the top current and former professional players in the world including Brent Burns, Taylor Heise and Mike Modano to name a few. Sparx Hockey has solidified its position as the No. 1 sharpener in hockey through multi-year partnerships with some of the most premier teams and organizations in the game including the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, Shattuck-St. Mary’s and the Society of Professional Equipment Managers.

Sparx Hockey’s global headquarters are located in Acton, MA and are home to R&D, Operations, Marketing, Sales, and Finance teams as well as our production lines and warehouse/distribution center.

About therole:

Do you dream in reels, live for likes, and love hyping a brand you believe in? Do you want to work closely alongside top NHL players, Olympians and some of the most influential personalities in hockey? Sparx Hockey is looking for a creative Social Media & Content powerhouse who is not afraid to dream big, think differently and create compelling content for the fastest-growing brand in hockey. This crucial role will be responsible for generating, producing and directing a wide range of engaging content that will be utilized across Sparx Hockey’s social media channels.

You’re an ideal candidate if you’re an extremely out-going, creative, hard-working, highly competitive team-player who is not afraid of being in front of – or behind – a camera. The Sparx Hockey Social Media & Content Lead will be the Sparx brand storyteller, shining a creative spotlight on Sparx Hockey’s products, employees, retailers, athletes and partners in unique and compelling ways. In addition to creating content, this highly visible position will oversee all aspects of our social media platforms, including posting, monitoring and tracking analytics of Sparx Hockey’s owned channels.

As the Sparx Hockey Social Media & Content Lead, you will be an important member of Sparx Hockey’s global marketing team that is laser-focused on amplifying Sparx Hockey’s voice and brand presence.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and manage Sparx Hockey’s social media strategy. 
  • Create, design, produce, film and edit engaging content (video and still imagery).
  • Serve as Director and Producer of all social content, including product demos, employee spotlights, behind-the-scenes content, trend-based content, athlete collabs, and more.
  • Show up regularly in front of the camera with confidence, humor, and energy to drive engagement and connect with fans and potential customers.
  • Jump on trends (TikTok, IG Reels, YouTube Shorts) and make them your own.
  • Grow overall social media followers and expand brand engagement. 
  • Develop and design quick-turn content that does not rely on larger creative team. 
  • Measure the success of social media posts and campaigns and take necessary steps to improve and enhance performance. 
  • Identify relevant hockey influencers and partner with them to expand reach. 
  • Willingness to travel to hockey events, tournaments, and activations (including on weekends) to document and hype the Sparx Hockey brand in real time.

Qualifications:  

  • 3+ years of proven experience building and managing social media programs – a strong portfolio of social media and content work is a must.
  • Experience as a content creator, influencer, or brand ambassador is a big plus.
  • Deep understanding of all social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Snapchat  
  • Strong editing skills (Premiere Pro, CapCut, Adobe Suite, etc)
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hyper-growth environment. 
  • Detail oriented and extremely organized. 
  • Exceptional time management, verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must be engaging, energetic, self-motivated and possess an aggressive work ethic.  
  • Scrappy, willing to roll up sleeves, and has an entrepreneurial mindset. 
  • Experience working with a DTC brand and passion for hockey a plus  
  • Bachelor's degree
