Summary

The Maintenance & Production Technical Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence at our Versalift Southwest facility. This position blends hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership skills, overseeing a small maintenance team while contributing directly to production operations. Approximately 25% of the role focuses on managing facility maintenance activities, performing minor repairs, and ensuring the plant remains safe and operational. The remaining 75% involves technical production work, including cab electrical installs, chassis programming, component preparation, hydraulic and fabrication assistance, and conducting quality checks throughout the production process. The ideal candidate is a versatile, solutions-oriented professional who can balance multiple priorities, lead by example, and maintain high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of the maintenance team, fostering skill development and supporting business objectives.
  • Perform light facility repairs, including plumbing, lighting, and general upkeep.
  • Assist with cab electrical installation on production units.
  • Learn and lead programming efforts for chassis systems, maintaining an organized archive of programs for future builds.
  • Prepare vehicle bodies, chassis, and subassemblies for electrical work and component installation.
  • Support hydraulic and fabrication installation tasks as needed.
  • Execute in-process testing and quality assurance checks to ensure build accuracy before release to QC.
  • Assist with chassis check-in inspections upon arrival.
  • Collaborate with the Plant Manager to prioritize tasks and allocate resources to meet production schedules and budget guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a maintenance, electrical, or technical production environment; prior supervisory experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in basic facility maintenance tasks, including plumbing, lighting, and minor repairs.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems, wiring, and programming; chassis programming experience a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage shifting priorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a production plant environment.
