The Lebermuth Company is currently looking for a Buyer to join our Procurement team. Lebermuth is a family owned, ingredient manufacturer, specializing in essential oils and custom-developed fragrance and flavor blends. We serve the personal care, home fragrance and fragrance/flavor reseller markets. Lebermuth culture is rich in family values, a trademark of our 100+ year history.
Summary:
As the Buyer, you drive operational excellence by strategically managing the procurement process to deliver high-quality products, ensure on-time deliveries, and optimize costs, all while exceeding customer and business expectations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establishes and drives strategic goals for assigned raw material categories, ensuring alignment with business objectives and optimizing cost, quality, and supplier performance.
- Executes targeted tactical and strategic raw material buys which prioritize customer requirements, minimize costs, and maximizes profits.
- Optimize inventory using MRP, historical data, and forecasts to balance stock levels, minimizing overstock, preventing stock outs, and ensuring product availability aligns with customer demand.
- Effectively maintains and verifies accuracy of purchasing data across all systems, ensuring seamless operations, data integrity, and support for informed decision-making.
- Cultivates and manages high-caliber Supplier Relationships ensuring optimal performance and alignment with Lebermuth’ s business objectives by proactively identifying and engaging suppliers who meet our standards for quality, competitive pricing, reliable product availability, and payment terms.
- Leverages expertise in market analysis to proactively monitor industry trends, shifts in supply and demand, and competitive pricing landscapes.
- Adapts sourcing strategies to changing market conditions strategically maintaining an optimal mix of direct and spot suppliers for each commodity, ensuring continuity of supply chain operations.
- Implements impactful changes that drive productivity and operational excellence by demonstrating a strong commitment to continuous improvement. Proactively identifies opportunities to streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and elevate quality standards.
- Effectively anticipates challenges and proactively develops strategies that drive results, ensuring sustained progress and operational excellence.
- Possesses exceptional problem-solving skills, demonstrating the ability to analyze complex situations, identify core issues, and deliver innovative, solution-oriented options.
- Collaborates with cross-functional departments including R&D, Regulatory, Sales, and the Creative Laboratory to develop a thorough understanding of the raw materials including the use, composition, and Regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, building positive relationships through active listening and clear communication, fostering collaboration, resolving conflicts constructively, and supporting a high-performing team environment.

Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
Experience: 5+ years’ buying experience in Fragrance and/or Flavor Industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Certifications: N/A
Functional Skills: Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required for this role. Excellent planning, prioritizing, attention to detail, and follow-up are also needed to meet the job functions. Experience with structured processes and ability to enhance current processes along the way. Strong ability to research and source material or vendor options to meet production and budget goals. Ability to exercise sound and accurate judgment. Adept at using logic and reasoning to identify solutions to problems. Strategic thinking is a must. Negotiation skills are important.
Technology Aptitude/Skills: Advanced skills in MS Office Suite; primarily Microsoft Excel/Word. Strong MRP/ERP experience. Strong aptitude with technology who could learn quickly and create more efficient processes preferred.
Language Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations. Excellent ability to write correspondence which is professional in both content and tone. Strong ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from both internal and external customers, and vendors. The ability to speak a foreign language is preferred.
