United Living are recruiting a SHEQ Advisor to join our New Homes pillar on a 14 month fix term contract:

New Homes - As experienced and specialist new build housing contractors, we create homes and regenerate areas with communities in mind. We work collaboratively with registered partners, local authorities, and private developers to provide high quality, energy efficient, and sustainable homes for people to live and grow.

Job Description:

Our New Homes pillar are currently looking for a SHEQ Advisor to provide invaluable SHEQ support to our site teams. The role is supporting our city center high rise developments in Leeds, Manchester and one project in London. The role is a fix term 14 month contract. 

Your role as SHEQ Advisor will involve:

  • Providing specialist SHEQ advice to colleagues / subcontractors
  • Ensuring contracts are compliant and that positive behaviours are embedded in the day to day works of our operational teams
  • Communicate & promote a positive SHEQ ethos and culture
  • Guide and advice projects on the implementation of business management system, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct investigations for allocated projects, conducting robust root cause analysis, reporting back on findings.
  • Lead and support the continuous improvement of SHEQ performance.
  • Proactively monitor SHEQ reporting system for allocated projects regarding performance such as quality inspections
  • Support and advice to subcontractors and suppliers as required..
  • Participate in regular meetings, actively being involved with input, best bestice, innovation.
Qualifications:

This is primarily a site-based role which will require a SHEQ professional with previously construction / high rise experience, in addition to a full UK driving license and vehicle for work purposes. You will also possess the following:

  • Understanding of health and safety issues as they relate to the property maintenance space, and ability to implement processes in line with industry standards
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and subcontractors; we are looking for a team player who can add value to our operational teams
  • NEBOSH
Additional Information:
  • Ability to always lead by example – ‘Don’t Walk By’ attitude to stop and challenge unsafe acts or behaviours
  • Strong team player who can build effective relationships
  • Good self-motivation, time management and ability to work remotely
  • IT literate with a keen eye for data accuracy
  • Has a formal qualification in SHEQ
  • Experience in accident investigations
  • Application of legislation and case law in practice
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
