ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE:

Neighborhood Healthcare is excited to offer a full-time externship opportunity for Medical Assistant students currently enrolled at PIMA Medical Institute. This experience is designed to give you hands-on exposure to the day-to-day responsibilities of a Medical Assistant in a community healthcare setting. This externship is an excellent opportunity to apply the skills you’ve learned in the classroom while supporting real patients under the guidance of experienced healthcare professionals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Externs will primarily support back office tasks, such as:

  • Rooming patients
  • Taking vital signs
  • Administering injections (as applicable)
  • Assisting with procedures
  • Updating electronic health records (EHR)
  • Supporting patient care coordination with the clinical team

Please note: This externship is focused on clinical (back office) experience and does not include front office duties.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently enrolled in the Medical Assistant program at PIMA Medical Institute
  • Available Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM for the full externship
  • Professional, dependable, and eager to learn in a clinical setting
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
