SUMMARY OF ROLE
The Material Handler is responsible for facilitating incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Requires certification to use powered industrial truck (hi-lo).
- Receiving, unpacking, verifying and recording incoming merchandise or material.
- Examine shipment contents and compare with records such as packing slips, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
- Match received material with purchase order and resolve an inconsistencies.
- Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped based on customer specifications.
- Contact carrier representatives to make arrangements or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
- Record shipment data, such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies for reporting, accounting, or recordkeeping purposes.
- Maintain and update company Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to oversee goods ordered and material receipt.
- Physically manage ship and receiving area, and warehousing activities of all raw and finished goods inventories.
- Adhere to all company policies
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; with a minimum of 1 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in manufacturing and automotive field preferred.
