Position Title: Mountain Sports School & Activities Director
Reports To: General Manager
Employment Status: Year-round; Variable
Job Summary:
Brundage Mountain Resort is seeking a visionary and innovative leader to serve as Director of Mountain Sports School and Activities, responsible for the strategic growth and overseeing daily operations of our Ski & Ride School, Summer Mountain Bike School, Children’s Programs, and Daycare as well as additional summer activity programming. As a key member of the senior management team, this role emphasizes expanding summer activities—particularly mountain bike lessons, camps, and new program development—while fostering a people-first culture and delivering exceptional guest experiences through dynamic programming, operational excellence, and cross-departmental collaboration.
Essential Responsibilities & Job Duties
Strategic Leadership & Innovation
- Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for all snow and mountain sports programs aligned with resort goals
- Lead the expansion of summer offerings, including mountain bike programs, camps, new activities and sport focused events
- Collaborate with other departments to enhance guest and employee experience
- Champion a people-first culture that prioritizes employee well-being and empowerment
Program Development & Guest Experience
- Design and execute creative and attractive sports programming for all ages and skill levels
- Lead on-snow and on-bike clinics emphasizing modern teaching techniques and sports science.
- Continuously improve teaching methods, communication, and program offerings based on guest feedback and performance data.
Team Management
- Recruit, train, and lead a team of 30+ instructors and support staff.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and enthusiasm.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities at all levels
Operational Oversight
- Manage daily operations of Ski & Ride School, Summer Sports School and new activity and program development. Lead and support supervisory staff in different seasons.
- Oversee Daycare program, giving support and leadership to Daycare manager and staff.
- Ensure safety initiatives, staff scheduling, training, and compliance across all departments.
Financial & Business Leadership
- Build and manage annual budgets for all assigned departments.
- Monitor performance and identify opportunities to exceed financial goals.
- Establish pricing and program positioning to drive growth and profitability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with marketing to promote programs through innovative campaigns, especially summer initiatives.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to modernize systems and enhance guest and staff experiences.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing and governmental regulations.
Job Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of the ski industry and an authentic passion for skiing/snowboarding and outdoor adventure.
- 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in snowsports or mountain sports instruction.
- Proven success managing revenue-generating operations in a mountain resort environment.
- PSIA/AASI Level 2 or higher required; PMBIA or equivalent preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing sports programs.
- Strong budgeting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Advanced computer proficiency; knowledge of systems: Entabeni, Paycom a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License; ability to pass enhanced background and driving history checks.
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Able to work on-site at Brundage Mountain Resort
- Able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
