We are currently hiring for a Permit Technician position, an exciting, entry-level opportunity for anyone interested in beginning a career in planning and community development within municipal government. As a Permit Technician, you act as the customer service representative of the Development Services Center (DSC), which carries responsibility for reviewing and issuing a wide array of Land Use and Construction Permits ranging from simple same day permits to complex development projects.

Candidate profiles can be anyone with any training or experience with project management, time management, scheduling, customer service/support, retail sales, or event coordination, in any field or industry.

Hours & Schedule:

Permit Technicians meet and work with the public and since not all citizens who need our services are able to access the information they need online, our Permit Technicians are here to help in-person. Our Permitting Desk is one of the way we ensure the services of the City are accessible to everyone in our community.

Note: Flexible work options including remote work may be available after completing 6-months employment.

  • You are very well organized and love to keep track of all the details, deadlines, and paperwork. However, you are also able to pivot and change directions even with little information. In other words, you like to keep everything moving along as designed but don’t get ruffled if something needs to change at the last minute.

  • You are at home in a fast-paced environment where every day is a little different from the next. This means you know how to set and re-set priorities so that you can meet deadlines.

  • Dealing with customer-challenges is right up your alley. You have great empathetic skills and can take a customer complaint and turn it around for everyone. This means you are a great listener and even better problem-solver.
