Job Title: Senior Accountant

Pay Range: $85,000-$100,000 DOE
Position Summary:
Unified Business Alliance is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing and performing a variety of complex accounting functions to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role involves preparing financial reports, analyzing account trends, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards. The Senior Accountant also plays a key role in month-end and year-end closing activities, audits, and process improvements, often serving as a mentor to junior accounting staff.
While this position does not require prior construction or real estate accounting experience, familiarity with these industries is considered a strong asset. This role is an “in office” position and will report directly to the company Controller. This role will involve exposure to multiple entities, work closely with various teams, and will involve both the development and construction as well as Private Equity sides of the overall company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, job costing, and payroll
- Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
- Analyze financial data and provide actionable insights for leadership decision-making.
- Oversee WIP (Work-in-Progress) schedules and ensure accurate job cost tracking
- Reconcile bank statements and other financial records
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal controls
- Support year-end audits and tax preparation
- Support junior accounting staff
- Collaborate with project managers and estimators to ensure accurate financial tracking of construction projects
- Monitor lien waivers, subcontractor compliance, and progress billings
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA a plus)
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of accounting experience
- Construction accounting knowledge preferred, including construction accounting standards, job costing, and WIP reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, NetSuite, or other ERP systems)
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with construction project management software a plus
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple priorities
