JOB SUMMARY |
The Mobile Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, rebuilding, repairing, and maintaining utility construction equipment. |
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS |
A working knowledge of vehicle and construction equipment repair and maintenance shop at a level normally acquired through three years of experience, education, training, or any combination that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. - High school diploma or equivalent.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
|
- Demonstrated knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and techniques used in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance.
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical design and fabrication.
- Experience with electrical systems, including computerized induction/ignition systems.
- Experience working with power and hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and operating vehicles and equipment for diagnostic purposes.
- Experience with Caterpillar, John Deere, Backhoes, Skid Steers, Rollers.
- Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical automotive, air and hydraulic brake systems, trailer electric brakes basic welding and metal fabrication.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with division supervisors, coworkers, other agencies, and the public.
- Accurate and professional written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to understand and follow safety practices and procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS |
- Possess or acquire a valid commercial motor vehicle driver’s license appropriate for the position.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Diagnose, rebuild, and repair vehicles and equipment to include maintaining and repairing utility construction equipment including, but not limited to, pick-ups, crew trucks, dump trucks, water trucks, excavators, backhoes, rollers, loaders, compactors, air compressors and trailers, etc.
- Order replacement parts and clean and lubricates equipment and parts.
- Requisition of new parts and equipment.
- Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
- Travel to jobsites to repair equipment.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports.
- Perform all work in detail and accordance with manufacturer recommendations, including ILB’s established safety procedures.
- Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.

- Wage range: $30 - $40 hourly.

- Must be available to work frequent overtime.
