About this Opportunity

Join Hillsboro Water and play a leading role in safeguarding one of our community’s most vital resources — clean, reliable water. As the Water Conservation Program Coordinator, you will serve as the liaison between the Water Resources Division and other Hillsboro Water divisions, City departments, and partner agencies—on matters related to water loss tracking, water conservation, and water education. 



What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will manage, lead, and coordinate water management projects, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration across various teams. 

Primary duties and responsibilities include:

Program Management 
  • Oversee and manage data collection and analysis for annual water loss audit, water management and conservation plans, and conservation benchmarks.

  • Develop project plans, timelines, and budgets.

  • Coordinate with other departments and divisions to ensure project requirements are met.

  • Act as the main point of contact for customer water efficiency programs, education and outreach requests, 

  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between different departments impacting water loss.


Team Coordination

  • Work closely with various divisions to ensure efficient project and event execution.  

  • Address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during project implementation.

  • Supervise program staff in the execution of programs and projects.


Project Leadership
  • Lead project teams, delegating tasks and ensuring that all team members are aligned with project goals.

  • Take on project management responsibilities including the development of project plans, timelines, and budgets.


Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of project progress and outcomes.

  • Ensure regulatory reports are completed and submitted to regulatory agencies on time for compliance.

  • Prepare and present reports on project status to department leadership, boards, and community groups.



Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Highly organized and detail-oriented individual able to effectively manage multidisciplinary teams to complete projects according to regulatory deadlines.

  • Knowledge of municipal drinking water systems and water conservation practices.

  • Experience working with residential, commercial, and industrial water users to identify ways improve water efficiency.

  • Experience developing and executing educational programs centered on water use and stewardship for a variety of age and interest groups. 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Acceptable Experience and Training

Bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources, Biology, Environmental Science and Management, Chemistry, Engineering, Hydrology, Geography, or a closely related field; and five years of related experience with three years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.


License(s) / Certifications:

  • Valid, current Driver’s License and safe driving record.

  • First Aid and CPR Certification
