Job Summary:
The Fitness/Wellness Provider is responsible for being the professional host and instructor for the premier fitness experience the provider creates for each hotel guest and spa member. This means providers are expected to be warm and engaging, and eager and able to tailor classes to the unique needs and requests of class participants. This includes taking the time to meet and greet each participant upon arrival to class, and inquiring about issues or injuries that may need to be considered to conduct a safe and comfortable class.
The Fitness/Wellness Provider is responsible for formatting and implementing a professional, safe and welcoming fitness/wellness class in the specific fitness modality agreed upon to teach with the fitness manager of the spa. A current and accredited group fitness certification and/or fitness-specific certification is required for each fitness format taught. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification is also required.
The Fitness/Wellness Provider is required to become part of community of spa members and hotel guests. By fostering relationships with our members and guests, the Fitness/Wellness Provider helps promote their classes to our members and guests to increase fitness class attendance. In addition, if applicable, the provider is expected to initiate discussions with guests and members about private trainings, which will ultimately grow their individual, private training clientele.
The Fitness/Wellness Provider is to be an ambassador of The Peaks Resort & Spa and to actively inform and promote to hotel guests and spa members the benefits of each fitness/wellness service, program and product we offer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clock in and out at arrival and departure of each class.
Approve your timecard at clock before the end of every pay period.
Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your class to be prepared and available to meet and greet all class participants.
Inquire about each participant’s physical issues or injuries to be considered for you to teach a safe and comfortable class.
Provide safe exercise modifications to each participant before and during class.
Inquire about guests’ altitude adjustments and offer ways to assist them, such as proper hydration and coaching them not to push too far out of their comfort zone.
Anticipate the needs of your class participants. Set up the room prior to the start of your class, including all necessary equipment, mats and props. This detail is key to providing a full experience start to finish. This set up should address all the human senses, including appropriate music, inviting lighting, positioning of mats and equipment and a diffused scent for the class room or studio.
Make sure each guest signs the class participant sheet and return this sheet to the fitness manager’s office when class in completed.
Maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized fitness setting during each class.
Actively promote the spa and its treatments, services, programs, promotions or events.
Be a key source information for guests inquiring about services provided by The Peaks Resort & Spa and offer helpful recommendations for spa treatments, area restaurants, activities and your favorite Telluride destinations.
Maintain a positive attitude and continually contribute to improve the quality and efficient work environment.
Dress and conduct yourself in a professional manner.
Handle guests’ concerns with care and concern and promptly report these situations to the Fitness Manager.
At the end of class, clean and straighten your room and equipment closet. Sanitize all mats and equipment used.
Once guests leave, turn off lights, candles, stereo and blue tooth connection. Empty towel bins outside of class room or studio.
Communicate to management anything to assist with improving the overall guest experience. This includes maintenance of the spa facility, its attending staff, and its equipment.
Abide by the rules and regulations of your employee spa access.
Provide a class substitute if you are unable to teach class.
On the onset of symptoms related to illness, immediately notify Heather Blakeman by phone or text (970-209-7038). It is always your responsibility to find a substitute to teach your class.
While we understand last minute sickness will happen, you are required to contact Heather and to take responsibility to find a substitute for your class, if physically able.

Be a team player and offer to substitute for team members needing class coverage.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum of 1-2 years of teaching experience
Current Group Fitness Certification & Specialized training in fitness modality
Current CPR Certification

The compensation for this position is based on commission.
