About the Department
Provide high quality, on and off ice skating instruction to all ages and skill levels following curriculum through Learn to Skate USA, US Figure Skating, USA Hockey, and ISI programming at the Slater Family Ice Arena.

Position Duties
- Work under the direction of the Slater Family Ice Arena Hockey and Student Programming Coordinator and/or the Assistant Director of Programming.
- Provide a fun and safe learning environment for all participants at all times.
- Instruct participants in basic to advanced ice skating, figure skating, and hockey skills.
- Familiarity and ability to instruct specific curriculum from Learn to Skate USA, US Figure Skating, USA Hockey, or ISI.
- Follow lesson plans for assigned classes based on Learn to Skate USA, US Figure Skating, USA Hockey, or ISI curriculum.
- Continuously evaluate skaters within each class.
- Maintain industry standard level of membership, certification, and/or any other industry standard coaching/instruction requirement.
- Adhere to professional codes of conduct set forth by PSA, USFS, USA Hockey and ISI.
- Fill out necessary evaluation documentation for each assigned student.
- Participate in scheduled instructor meetings.
- Maintain open communication with parents to discuss skater progress.
- Ability and knowledge to communicate a basic level of understanding and detail regarding local skating and hockey organizations to educate skating families.
Minimum Qualifications
- Have proficient knowledge of basic levels and disciplines within Learn to Skate USA, US Figure Skating, USA Hockey, or ISI.
- Additional knowledge of advanced skill levels within Learn to Skate USA, US Figure Skating, USA Hockey, or ISI preferred.
- Significant figure skating or ice hockey background.
- Prior skating instruction experience preferred but not required.
- Must obtain required industry standard membership, certification, and/or any other industry standard coaching/instruction requirement.
- Be prepared and dressed appropriately for classes 15 minutes prior to the first class.
Other Qualifications
Hours vary Monday - Sunday, including on-ice instruction and off-ice preparation. Positions available Fall, Spring and Summer sessions. Please upload a resume including your on-ice skating/hockey and instructional experiences with your application.
