Duties

You will serve as a staff health technician (audiology).,You will provide hearing test and hearing conservation services to include: audiometric threshold testing, patient counseling, hearing protection fittings, hearing conservation education, and hearing conservation data management.,You will review medical and occupational history to determine requirements for hearing evaluation.,You will evaluate outer and middle ear function using otoscopic examination and Tympanometry testing.,You will administer microprocessor-based pure tone hearing tests.,You will maintain Hearing Conservation Databased utilizing the Defense Occupation Health Enviromental Readiness System.,You will document and accurately file hearing evaluation results, referrals, and pertinent data in patient health records.,You will refer patients as required to an Audiologist, Physician, Physician assistant, Nurse Practitioner or Independent Duty Corpsman.,You will counsel patients on hearing evaluation results, health promotion topics, workplace health hazards, and prevention of noise-induced hearing loss.,You will perform daily calibration and functional check of audiometric test equipment.,You will fit and issue appropriate hearing protective devices and instruct personnel on the proper care and use of devices,You will provide basic administrative support as needed.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Assisting in performing standard medical tests and procedures, reviewing treatment plans or orders and determining what must be done, preparing medical records, medical data entry, reviewing medical records and flagging special information, scheduling patients and coordinating services or referrals. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
